To celebrate
the 40th Anniversary in 2009, the railways first
locomotive, DA 1969 has
received a special paint scheme. The special livery is based on
a colour scheme applied to preserved DA 1431 by Steam
Incorporated to commemorate New Zealand’s 150th
Anniversary in 1990.
The
locomotive made its first public appearance in the new livery
on Easter Sunday, 12th April 2009 and is expected to
wear the special colours for the next 11 months, returning to
her normal red and white scheme in March
2010.
